Tired Of It

With this article I do not mean to offend anyone, I am just stating a personal point of view on a number of subjects. First is the gay rights issue, which I personally am tired of hearing about. I think it is getting really old. I mean they got into the military, what else do they want? They even have their own parade--non-gays don't have their own non-gay parade. So I say it's over with, so let's get over it!
Now this next subject may be offensive to some people. What I am going to talk about is why can't we just be Americans? People have died for the honor of being called an American. I do not see why people specify that they are African Americans, Latino Americans and anything else. We should just be Americans. I don't go around saying that I am a French-Canadian-African-Irish-Indian American. I'm not saying that we shouldn't have pride in our heritage--we should! What I am saying is that it is kind of ridiculous to be called anything else but American. One of the best things about this wonderful nation of ours is that it was founded by many different cultures. They were all proud to be called Americans and Americans only.
Another touchy subject is AIDS. Yes, it is a terrible thing, but I think the hype about it is getting out of control. For the past four years that is all we have heard about on the news. There is now the big story about that guy who willingly got people infected. I think that is terrible and they should kill the guy, but the AIDS thing the media loves so much should stop. I don't mean to offend anyone because I have a cousin with AIDS and I see the effects of the virus on her. I also know that she thinks the media is overdoing it. If there is a new medical breakthrough then that is the time to cover it intensely.
Most of these have been over-played, and I think you will agree with me. I thank you for reading this, and I hope you understand what I mean.
