"Utopia sucks"

Madison sat on top of the building with his great wings covering him, itching for a mugger to walk by. Nothing. This was getting to be a very discouraging night for him. What is a gargoyle supposed to do when there is nobody to protect? Ever since he had arrived in this city three years ago crime had been on the decline until now. Now there was no crime at all. He had scared all the criminals away. What now? What happens to a gargoyle who doesn't work? Come on there has always been work for gargoyles ever since the beginning of time there have been wars and thieves and evil kings to defeat or stop, but what now everybody was good there was no more evil in the world. There is no more violence on TV (its not allowed), no more news shows (everybody got sick of human-interest programs when there isn't any violence before or after it) or talk shows either. I mean how many people care about sloppy husbands that receive makeovers when that's the topic every day. And people yearn for a time when people they didn't know got shot in the streets and they could see it on TV or there was a fifteen-car pile up on the interstate. When everybody stopped driving there weren't any more accidents people just sit in their houses and talk to each other on the Internet. Nobody can remember when this all started, it just happened.
There isn't even any computer crime because computers now write computer programs and because computers know what it is like to be a computer, they have made computer programs so sophisticated that nobody understands how to make them, let alone break them.
Nobody goes outside, nobody watches TV, nobody commits crimes because that would involve moving from their precious computer and possibly being hurt by the big thing with wings (Madison) that caught all the criminals before we entered Utopias. So why not commit a crime to alleviate the monotony?
There are no more hospitals because nobody can get hurt sitting in front of the computer talking in a chat room. It doesn't matter if somebody dies because the computer in the house senses that somebody is dead and sends a message to another computer somewhere that sends out the appropriate robot to pick up the body and carry it to the.... Well nobody knows where they go they just go and nobody really cares.
Somewhere in some city with a forgotten name there is a person who still reads the old books occasionally, sometimes takes a walk and is now thinking "Utopia sucks!" This enlightened individual that we will call Joe will go on home to share this epiphany with the rest of the world on their precious Internet. The information is uploaded and because of he inappropriate language content (sucks is a bad word now.) the ruling computer deletes the inappropriate word so that the message reads "Utopia."
Nobody will ever know the real message because out of frustration over the censorship of his epiphany and realizing the futility of his life, Joe dies of an aneurysm and the appropriate robot scoops up his body and is carted off to God knows where.
On the city listing for the city where Joe lived, the unbreakable computer counter for population goes down yet another mark and Joe's name is erased from the ranks of the of the living and somewhere else in the city, Madison jumps off the building and goes flying hoping to find somebody, to find something, just to look at them all the while he thinks to himself, where did everything go wrong? Isn't this what everybody wanted the perfect world? No violence, no crime, nobody has to do anything. Then why does it suck? Why isn't everything bright and happy? The streets should be crowded with people just happy to be alive in a world with no problems. People who can be people and not binary code moving through computers. People who can and want to talk in person. Oh well, maybe there will be somebody walking outside today. Madison sees everything.
