Marburge by Skye-Chan

(With excerpts from The Hot Zone by Richard Preston)

Imagine going camping in the wilds of the Amazon of Africa. Imagine discovering a cave such as Kitum Cave in Kenya, Africa. Imagine cutting your hand on a rock, being bitten by an insect or stepping in a pile of guano.

Nearly a week after the camping trip the headache begins: the pain throbbing behind your eyes and spreading through your body. Your eyes turn a bloody red and your skin yellow speckled with red stars. You no longer remember anything. Your brain, your heart and your vital organs have literally liquefied; a black speckled mass. You sneeze and your nose breaks.

15 days after your exposure, your vitals have crashed as the virus escapes through every opening of your body in a speckled bloody mass; that day you die. Marburge has a death rate of 80%-90% and is titled "The Gentle Sister". The sisters are strains of the Ebola virus. You may think that Ebola is limited to Africa, but it's entirely untrue. In 1989, there was an outbreak of the Ebola virus in Reston, VA in Reston Monkey House. However, the virus was successfully contained.
