Details on Supports Unlimited
Many people are willing and able to work in the community, but are lacking the skills and/or the support to maintain a job. Consolidated Industries provides the needed support to these people through their Supports Unlimited program. Supports Unlimited assists individuals with disabilities in finding jobs within the community. Here, these individuals are encouraged to make the transition from community programs to integrated labor within the community.Job developers work on this program by assisting individuals to locate jobs in the community. When the individual is placed, a job coach attends the workplace to assist in supporting the client in their new surroundings. Job coaches are fully trained in the new position and work on a daily basis to acclimate the individual with their new responsibilities. Eventually, job coaches visit the site on a weekly basis to help to train and assist clients as they work in their new employment setting.
The overall goal of the program is to help these individuals make the transition to part time or full time work with minimal support.

Supports Unlimited benefits the client by providing them with opportunities to work and be integrated in the community. Through this program, job coaches stay in touch and provide support while the client works to ensure the transition is as easy as possible.

The Supports Unlimited Program works as an employment service offering area businesses an alternate solution to their employment needs. Employers receive motivated applicants who receive assistance in learning the job and in successfully performing it.
A Success Story
A developmentally delayed 34 year old man was referred to the Supports Unlimited program by the New York State Education Department for Supported Work. Supports Unlimited found the man to be extremely enthusiastic and willing to work. Program staff were able to successfully link this individual in a job with a local janitorial firm.
