Medicare Facts

Q. What is covered by Medicare?

A.  "Covered" services are tests which Medicare will pay for. "Uncovered" services are tests which Medicare not pay for at all. For your ENG (balance testing), two of the procedures are not covered. That is, Medicare will not pay for any part of these procedures, even though they are an important part of your balance test.

QHow much does Medicare pay?

A.  Medicare will pay for 80% of covered services. If you have a secondary insurance, we will bill them for the remaining 20%. If you have only Medicare, we will bill you for the remaining 20% after receiving 80% payment from Medicare.

You must pay for ENG procedures not covered by Medicare at the time of visit ($39.99). In addition, any insurance deductibles or c0-payments are your responsibility.

To conclude:

  1. You pay for all uncovered services at the time of visit ($39.99).

  2. We will bill Medicare for 80% of covered service.

  3. The remaining 20% either will be paid for by your secondary insurance, or you will be billed for this amount.

Feldman & Oviatt Audiology Services is a participating provider with Medicare. This means that we will submit your claim to Medicare to pay us directly. This does not mean that Medicare will pay all of your bill. A balance test is made up of 6 or 7 different diagnostic tests. Medicare will pay for the most of these tests, but not all of them.

It is important to remember that ultimately,
the burden of payment will always be your
responsibility.
